During the 1970s, the Trustee Savings Banks based their TV advertising on the famous actor Gordon Jackson, at that time playing
the part of Hudson in the popular TV series Upstairs, Downstairs. However, this theme came to an end when the Independent Broadcasting
Authority's Code of Advertising Standards and Practice (1975) ruled that 'celebrated entertainers ... may not present, endorse or
recommend any investment or savings offer'.
In 1976, new TV advertising was introduced; it was based on a jingle called "It's
the one for me". Copies of the jingle, with several different lyrics, were distributed to staff on a vinyl record in the cover illustrated below.
